After graduating from OCAD University in 2012, I started working at a small digital agency. Our primary clients were Parmalat (makers of Astro Yogurt, Black Diamond Cheese, Cheestrings and Lactantia milk) and Sofina Foods (makers of Jane’s, Lilydale and Fletcher’s). Our team created on-pack promotions to drive sales and traffic to the company’s website. For most promotions, the customer would enter the pin code found on a product for the chance to win prizes.
As the sole writer for these promotions, I was responsible for brainstorming concepts (including prizing) with the team, writing the promotional copy, consulting on the website and digital elements, as well as pitching work to our clients. Here is an example of three promotions that were created in the first two years of my career. While my work and experience has evolved quite a bit since then, it represents the foundation that I was able to build from.
